TREATMENTS
What to expect?
You will receive a comprehensive assessment which will provide us information of the nature of your pain and the underlying cause. We base our treatments on our findings following your assessment. We provide tailored treatments for each individual which could include joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, 1:1 exercise rehabilitation or other modalities (e.g. acupuncture, kinesiology taping).
Our aim is to provide a solution to your problem and help speed up your recovery. We strongly believe in prevention rather than cure. Therefore we will teach you exercises and pain prevention techniques so that you can take control of your condition and prevent reoccurrence.
Treatments
Joint Mobilisation and Manipulation
Occasionally our joints can become stiff or even maligned due to injury, poor posture or even muscle imbalances. This can lead to pain and discomfort and sometimes the best treatment is to take a hands on approach to mobilise and manipulate the mechanical joint problem.
Kinesiology Taping
As an adjunct to physiotherapy and sports massage, kinesio taping can help support muscles, tendons and joints by correcting muscle imbalances and joint malalignments. It can improve blood and lymphatic circulation and reduce inflammation and excess chemical buildup in the tissue.
IASTM
Instrumented assisted soft tissue mobilisation are medical grade stainless steel tools which are used to assist in soft tissue mobilisation.
They are particularly beneficial in tendinous injuries to aid in recovery.
Pilates
Pilates is a body conditioning exercise which focuses on the recruitment of the deeper stabilising muscles of the body in order for the more superficial muscles to work efficiently and to reduce injury occurrence. It restores muscle imbalances, improves posture, improves flexibility, increases muscle strength and endurance, regulates breathing and improves efficiency of movement.
Pilates is an excellent exercise for anyone for day to day conditioning or as a cross training exercise for other sports.
Tailored Exercise Programs
Where appropriate individual exercise programs will be devised to aid recovery, minimise reoccurrence of injury and to promote self management.
Sports Massage
Uses a mixture of soft tissue release techniques (e.g. METs) and therapeutic massage to help ease muscular tension. This usually involves a more specific treatment on a particular area resulting from a sporting or even a work complaint. It does not mean its painful!
Domiciliary
We can provide Physiotherapy in the convenience of your own home. This service is suitable for the elderly who have difficulty with transport and need rehab for balance, muscle strengthening and mobility.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been developed from Traditional Chinese Medicine and it is a form of therapy in which fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body. These specific points are found on channels called ‘Meridians’. The needles stimulate the body to produce pain relieving chemicals, promotes healing and gives a general feeling of well-being.
Therapeutic Massage
Massage is the manipulation of muscles, fascia and connective tissue. Massage encompasses a variety of techniques to bring about a therapeutic effect such as to enhance function, aid in the healing process, improve fascial mobility and to promote relaxation and well-being
Bobath
This is a technique used to treat neurological conditions such as Stroke, Brain Injury or Spinal Cord Injury to promote motor learning for functional independence. You will receive a comprehensive assessment identifying the main problems and a treatment plan will be devised based on patient orientated goals.
